Adding chrome sills to a Mk1 car, any thoughts?

    Each to their own, I have no sill covers, the narrow chrome strip, blacked out sills and coach lines. I believe it slims down the sides and makes the car look sleeker. I also like the black tail panel as well.

    Alloys have been replaced since this piccie.

      There is a 'U' section piece that is pop riveted to the sill at the top (your long strips of metal ?) and the sill cover pushes up into this (in so doing, the sill cover covers up the pop rivet heads). The bottom, that sits underneath the car is then held by either pop rivets or self tapping screws.

      I prefer self tappers as it means the covers can be easily removed for cleaning or checking. I use galvanised or stainless self tappers but ensure that there is plenty of anti corrosion treatment in the sills so the holes don't corrode.
