Door Handle Gaskets

Hi All,

Looking for advice on door handle gaskets, I cannot get mine to sit right, whatever I do the thin part of the gasket will not sit in tight at the top of the handle it keeps pushing out, I have tried thick and thin gaskets but no luck, it is as if the handle is not recessed enough on the top edge to allow the gasket to sit in. Drivers door is fine but passenger door Has anyone else had the same problem ? and how did you overcome?

Same problem here.

I intend to use some black mastic (car is black) and wipe excess clear, with a lot of care I don't see why this will not work also I don't intend taking them off again but should not be a problem Just be careful with the blade

The trouble with this area is build up of paint and or filler that makes the slot so much tighter . I used a little grease to help mine in . Mastic is ok but in time with hot weather and lots of opening closing this might wear away and start going into the paint yup that one crossed my mind as I have done away with the ugly gaskets of the side repeaters and used Dum Dum and they look much better

I perhaps should have said silicone which will as you know go off but not hard, bit like in fake breasts!

I had the same problem, I used a small file to make the slot on the handle just a tad wider. Fitted well after that.

Hi Malc, did you mean deeper or wider ? mine seem wide enough but not deep enough

Ah, wider. On mine the handle wouldn't go up high enough to sit in the hole properly so that I could fix one of the bolts. After I made the slot a tad wider, it and the gasket fitted better and allowed me to fix the bolts.
