Paint colour of Cam Covers

Hi I am at the moment having the engine bay resprayed and a few bits of scab on the body sorted. I want to clean up the engine whilst it is out and repaint the air filter box. I believe the nearest paint for that is Ford Dove grey but what about the rocker OOPS!! Cam cover box colour is that the same or is there a recognised colour used.

Cam covers are silver Peter, but dont ask me what code. I find a silver grey looks best.

I sprayed mine with smooth hamerite in silver. Very pleased with the result.

I did mine a few years ago using a Rover silver colour. They had got a bit tatty so when the heads were off, I stripped the covers again and did them with primer, Simonize Steel Wheels and clear lacquer. I don't have a proper photo available, but you can see the front of the LH one in this picture:

You will be fine with standard rattle can paint. I used a silver wheel spray a couple of years back and all OK so far. Some high temperature paints need 'baking' to cure and when applied to the cam covers, the paint never hardens as the temperature does not get high enough.

I did some a couple of years ago in a black wrinkle finish. I'd like to do the same on my new stag but my current covers are too good to change to non standard so anyone have any spare covers for sale? Thanks.

I had mine powder coated with chrome silver then painted the triumph by hand.

I did mine body colour - base coat + 2-pack lacquer - and picked out the lettering with enamel paint. I know it's non-standard but I like it.Engine bay.jpg

And anyone know the nearest modern colour for the air filter box? I believe it used to be a Ford Dove Grey or BMC Arabian grey?
