    that's how mine were, i drilled out the old pop rivets/brass, then re pop riveted them,they are now both working, but put grease on the rod as it goes through the holding bracket

      I have this trim removal tool as well as many others but find this one does the job best (blue handled tool)

        Thanks Darren, I've now purchased a pair.

        I'm little worried about the quarterlight now but won't know until I get stuck in.

        However, I have another question. Currently my quarterlights close beyond what seems their 'natural' or intended position and care has to be taken to not fully tighten the winder. I'm assuming that over the years they've been over tightened and something's got over-stressed but I'm hoping new seals and lubing up the mechanism will make this less of any issue. Has anybodyelse come up against this issue and resolved it ?
