    suspension trouble

hi, whilst refitting the nearside brake/ hub assembly after fitting new bushes in the track arm the whole suspension leg dropped out leaving half the top mount on the car. it appears the bonding between the rubber and the sleeve has failed, is this common? At least it will give me a chance to repaint the leg and spring assembly while i wait for the parts to come!

Yes had similar thing myself-although it was the offside-like you had been doing some work on the suspension and fitting a new boot to the bottom ball joint. On jacking up under the ball joint to hold it tight so I could fit the nut-the strut went up with a like dry creaking sound, thinking it was the strut itself eased the rubber boot down thinking WD40
but on lowering the jack and looking at the strut top could see it was down lower than normal ie the bush had broken away from the rubber-original?? but a replacement top bush fitted and sorted.

Yeh he said he was going to get stuck in this week-hope he makes as good a job as what he has yours.
just out of interest I took him another drivers door to see which was best to repair-don't suppose you took any notice which he's used?
Will call up next week to see how it's going.
        cheers.

          That sounds quite dramatic.
          Do you have a picture?

had the same with mine , about two years ago, so no so uncommon.
new joints got it right again.

                      regards
                      Tony

Check the large rubber grommets at top of mount, if they are being pushed up by end of strut, it's worth checking further as the mount could have broken.
