Power steering rack replacement

    Alex,
    The in/out adjustment does nothing to help. If you look at the base of the column inside the car (under the carpet) you'll see a small bolt holding the column tube to the bulkhead. Remove that, and the three bolts holding the column to the dashboard, and the whole column can be withdrawn into the car. I find this is necessary so that the intermediate shaft can be attached to the rack (it only fits the rack in one position), then the column can be fitted to the intermediate shaft with everything orientated in a central position.

        Finally done ,plus new pipes and track rod ends ,wooden steering wheel and tracked steering is now sweet as a nut . Yhanks to all who helped

        But it's not a job for one ,unless you have 4 arms and extra long fingers

        next job is tackling the leaking diff !

          Went for a high speed run today (70 tops ?) and low and behold 90% of the wheel wobble / vibrations have gone,just shows how knackered the old one was.
          Very very chuffed
