Can anyone reccomend a carb balancer / airflow meter please? I want to make sure that my carbs are definately even and I have six throttles to synchronise on the PI!!
Try the 'Synchrometer' and buy the Weber model. Some of us bought a few from an e.bay seller a few months ago. They are easy to use and very accurate. If you do a search from the forum you should find the thread.
many thanks for replying. Just ad a look on ebay and the Synchrometer looks really good. I was thinking of the Gunsons gadget as Giles suggested, so its make your mind up time!
If you get one let us know how you get on with it. I've been thinking of getting one too but it would have to wait to nearer the time I come over to the U.K. so I could have it delivered to my son's address in Chester, then take it back with me.
The easiest way to do it on the PI throttle bodies is with Rizla cigarette papers - much cheaper and more effective than a carb balancer! Insert the Rizla paper between the butterfly and the throttle body and adjust each butterfly until you can just feel the slightest resistance as you pull the paper out. Assuming your butterfly spindles are not badly worn/damaged this method will perfectly balance the throttles.
