    CD players

After having a read through the forum and finding this thread http://stagownersclub.mywowbb.com/vi...ight=cd+playerI gather that taking the old headunit out to fit one which can play CD's and pick up fm stations is a bit of a tw*t. Ive fitted them to newer cars before but have no idea where to start with the stag so here goes:

How do I get the other headunit out (stupid i know but i cant see a way)?

Will I have to modify anything behind the dash other than the wiring?

Is it a case of soldering a new connection block onto the stags existing loom?

[align=left]Try using the "Search" facility and type in either "heater box" or "radio fitting" and it should come up something that will help.

      Ian,

you can buy a modern connector to add to your existing wiring. It has about 10 wires more than you need and once wired in, it enables you to plug straight into the back of the new head unit. When I questioned all the wires, I was advised that I could link the switched feed to the permanent feed, which of course you can but it drained the battery in no time.

There are a couple of switched feeds to the right of the radio and I even managed to connect a feed for the arial.

This is remakable, 2 usefull comments in one night!!!

Hi - modern stereo's tend to come with an ISO connector. You can buy an ISO to bare wire adopter from Halfords - I joined these on to the correct wires under teh dash using a soldering iron and heat shrink insulation.

I fitted a Sony MEX BT2600 Bluetooth Stereo in my Stag - you get hands-free phone use and it streams audio from a suitable MP3 player/phone. It even plays traditional CDs. The entire time to fit took under an hour - it's tight but it does go.

Ditto with that Sony 2600 - I added the IPod interface as well, allowing me to control the pod from the head unit, and I can vouch for the bluetooth functionality as particularly good both for phone and streaming from my walkman phone.

          It'sa steal at the price
