    Kick Down Cable

    Morning All,

Came to refit the kick down cable (auto box) and realised the crimped cleat on the cable is no longer crimped.

Can anyone help with the measurement between the start of the cable at the clevis pin end and the position of the cleat please.

      Hi Chris,

Yes, it only give the measurement between the cleat and the adjuster, what i need is the distance that the least is crimped from the end of the cable

        Nigel,

Just take the car for a test drive and keep adjusting it until you a get compromise between when the kickdown comes in and how smooth the gear change is.

What your looking for, is on very light throttle settings the car is in top gear by the time it reach 20 mph. and the kickdown coming in towards the end of the accelerator pedal travel.

        Ian.

The Crimp is loose on a new replacement cable as you should fit a hydraulic pressure gauge to the back of the gear box to set it up properly, then when set, You crimp the collar on the cable to save the setting should you remove it in the future.
