    Wipers - First Speed

    Hello Each,

I only purchased my first Stag last Sunday and I am finding that loads of things don't work! 36 year old electrics, I guess!

My windscreen wipers do not work on first speed but are fine on second speed!

Is the fault likely to be on the column switch or the wiper motor end?

    Many thanks, regards, John.

p.s. Is there a club record for for the furthest distance that a member can throw a (non-working) clock? If not, I would like to be considered for nomination.

Somebody with more expertisethan me will tell you how to do it in a minute no doubt but I would see if you can run the wiper motor at 2 speeds whilst it is isolated from the switch. You will probably have to identify the 2 seperate cables that do this . Think they're...bluewith light green and red with light green. If you can then its either your stalk or the wiring running from it

no but there may be a record for finding one that keeps the right time. best to replace with an oil gauge then you can share the worry between this and the temp gauge.

          Hi

I had this very same problem and it was the switch, buy a new one and it will take about 30 mins to fit.

            Thanks, everyone,

I'll add it to my (ever growing) list of things to buy and do!

Our first run yesterday (Sunday to my brother-in-laws for lunch) and the parcel shelf collapsed, under the weight of a bottle of wine, the electric windows failed completely, the passenger footwell light failed and the newly erected hood popped out of the rear, central mount at 70 mph !

The list grows faster than I can delete items !

            Regards, John.

Welcome to the joys of Stag ownership - eventually you'll get to the point of doing 1200 miles in a week with no more than a blown light bulb, and the wife agreeing that the Stag purchase was a positive thing and possibly fight you for the keys....

But you have to be strong, Luke...feel the force within you.....

                John,

when you start tackling the list, be sure to allow enough time for the job in hand. As a rule of thumb, until you know your way around the car, if anyone has 100 or more posts, then double the time they say something takes. If they have 500 or more, treble it. If they have the name kryten or russ, multiply their time estimate by 5.

There is one exception to this approach. There is some super moderator bloke with over 600 posts and if he gives you any advice and you foolishly take it..you can safely assume that it will take you a lot less time than it took him. :?

                Good luck
