Spark plugs and other advice

Please can anyone tell me the recommended NKG spark plug for a stag v8. I want to change the ones in the car I just bought.
The plugs in the car are sooty black (dry not wet) is this indicating a rich mixture? Been a long while since I played with carbies.
And for something completely different, I have play in the steering column, as if a beating at the top end was worn. Is there a fix for this?

I use NGK BP5EY. I'll let someone else answer the other question as I have had too many beating at the top end before.SORRY just taking the mick, one back for the limy's Cheers Graham

I use BP5E.
There is clamp available for the steering column, Tony Hart sells them.
