Awful clatter from L/h front suspension

I got an awful clatter coming from the n/side front suspension when I go over a bump on that side and also going round l/hand bends or roundabouts. The actual suspension seems fine(the old pushing down on the wing test)

    Any ideas anyone?

    Thanks

Bottom Strut ? broken anti-roll bar mounting or the lugs where it joins to the wishbone ?

      Thanks Andy,

I will give the anti-roll bar a look in a minute, give the bottom strut a look tommorow outside in some better light.

There is bush/sleeve/bearing on the top of the strut that isfairly easy to change (I can do it). If you have noise from the suspension, it could be up there but it is more of a clonk than a rattle.

If I am not mistaken, this may have been the first usefultechnical comment I have made in over 600 posts

Everything seems ok in the anti-roll bar area.

Graham what is involved in changing this bush,im a real novice on suspension.

          Thanks

Have you checked the tightness of the top strut nut under the grommet? I had a similar rattle which got gradually worse, until one day driving over a dip in the road the suspension decompressed and the stut came out of the top mount. You'll need to check the tourqe as it wasn't obvious from a visual check. Luckily mine went back in once the spring was compressed with no permanent damage, but very exciting at the time!

Hi Mark.... this picture beter describes the two areas i was thinking of on the drag/lower strut

If not these then the other guys have given good advice regarding the top mount.

Does the noise occur all the time, only when turning the wheels, more when going over bumps etc. ?

              cheers...Andy

                Hi Mark,

you just need spring compressors and a bid ring spanner for the top nut. The manual describes how to do it perfectly.
