    Header tank coolant level

    Hi Folks

What are some ideas for mounting an indicator light for coolant level sensor in my new header tank? I'm using a TR7/8 tank mounted in the front left corner of the engine bay. I could use the seat belt warning light, which my wiring doesn't support. Your thoughts?

    Many thanks

Hi John, I custom built my own tank which is mounted on the LHS strut tower back towards the fuse box and as high as I could get it. Holds 3 litres The alarm sensor is fitted at mid level and there are two baffles in the tank to reduce the sloshing and setting off the alarm. Mine is only connected to an audible alarm which can't be missed and it does a 3 sec check every time the ignition is switched on.
    Cheers Ian A.

      Hello John.
I have a Merc tank mounted up by the fusebox which, like Ian's, is also baffled to prevent random alarms. I took the seat belt warning lamp to bits and printed my own "low water" symbol, together with red filters it looks original.
      John.

Like John, I have linked the float level switch to the seatbelt warning light, mines not quite so elegant as his, I removed the seatbelt lettering and put red Dymo tape on!

I use the Stagweber tank, used to use the Mercedes solution but it developed a leak along the seam.

What have you got against Hondas Steve? We've had 7 in the past 20 odd years and have never required rehydration other than from the bar
