    Tyres Michelin R14 185

Need some new rear tyres . Have been told Michelin 14 185s are extinct .Unless I pay £170.00 each. Can this be true?

Falcons have been mentioned. are these any good. ? Sad I always liked my Michelins.

Or switch to 15" but dont like Minilites.

          Hi Mike

I recently fitted Vredestein Sprint Classics size 185/80/14 at around £80 each - and I know a few others on the Forum have them. It's a bit too early for me to say much more than they go round and round (and don't vibrate like the old flat-spotted ones I replaced) but they come with a good reputation.

I am also looking at new tyres but am I must say somewhat confused by the advice given on this and several other similar threads thrown up by search.

The sizes recommended (185/70min to 185/80max) to give a variation of around 6cm in rolling diameter.

My current tyres are 195/70/R14 ( in the middle wrt rolling diameter) and look great.

Via search I have also come across other recommendations including 205/70/R14.

There must be a guru somewhere in the SOC who can give chapter and verse on the suitability and plusses and minusses of these different user recommended tyre size options?

Please read the first line of my post particularly the last word. I have done several searches on this subject and as I said (Highlighted in 4th line of post) I get just as if not more confusing suggestions as in this thread.

I think if you asked 100 gurus you'd get 100 different answers.

I think you need to search deeper.

OK should not have said gurus! But I thought the SOC was one of the biggest CC owners clubs? I would have thought that there would be a tyre size choice info sheet somewhere on their archives.

                            Hi Milo

Nice Stag but IMHO (perhaps in comparison to mine) tyres look too small. Like the white walls however whose 185/70's are they?

My tyres are Uniroyal Tigers paw

Just to add and to back up what Kevin said, the last Stags had 175/80s fitted as OEM
