    Piper Camshaft

    Hi all,

I would like to know what a PIPER CAMSHAFT is which is from time to time offered on ebay. Can anyone help?

    Many thanks

Klaus. Pipers are a well respected U.K.company that have been building special camshafts for many years now-see their website. I'm not sure if the one on its own on ebay will be much use though!!

Piper is a well known supplier of aftermarket/performance camshafts. Unfortunately they dont list one for the stag so the one on ebay may be a fake. But send them an enquiry just to make sure.
PS: why do you want to know?
      Cheers

The above cam is a fast road cam for Dolly Sprint, the experts on this forum will know if it will work on a Stag.

Many thanks Mike, Chris and John.

I asked out of curiosity as it is always good to know what is available on the market for our hobby.
I still have two new ones in the box for future use.

          Cheers
          Klaus

I'm not sure that it will, aren't standard cams "handed"?
Even if you fitted a pair there would be issues!

I think Faversham's once sold fast road cams for Stag's. Might be worth a telephone call.

The Sprint has a very clever design, with the cam acting directly on one set of valves and via followers on the other set, thus avoiding the need for more lobes or twin cams.

                      As Mr Mod said.

It looks like one of the lobes on that cam has a chunk missing out of it! One to avoid whatever car it's for!

                          Regards

Its not a sprint cam though as the 2 inlet valves per pot open together so the lobes are in tandem. I think the 2 exhaust valves work off the same lobes via a rocker.

Look on the Rimmers or Pipercams website for a better picture.

TR7 or other 1850 Four cylinder cam?

                              Anyway
Why would you buy a single cam for a dual cam V8, ie one per head.

You do need both cams to be a similar profile.

                              Just my view
