    Gearbox removal

Yesterday Son and I removed the gearbox, what a pig of a job, mainly the bolts over the bellhousing. James is right, I'll have to have a think about it and come up with some sort of improvement. I'm also fitting exhaust flanges between the back of the silencer boxes and the diff crossmember. A pair have already fitted in front of the gearbox mounts. Same shape and size as the manifold outlets and using the same gaskets. They have been fabricated and rehung waiting to be tack welded tomorrow. The transmission hoist I bought last week was a great help and made it a lot easier. Son quipped we should of had one 20 years ago. Gearbox came out due to an increasing noisy 2nd/3rd gear. Clutch 1/2 worn so will be replaced as will the thrust bearing.

Ive put mine back as original in the end with new bolts. The issue I remembered was the easiest way to undo then was from the rear (ie under the car from the g box end) so having to take the nuts off from behind the heads may well end up harder.
