    Left a trail of petrol down the road this afternoon

    Why is it that when you complete one task, another problem comes out of nowhere.
    Today I changed to a spin-on oil filter & did an engine oil change (VR1).
    The Stag was low on fuel so I went to Tesco to fill up.
    Nice day here, so decided to go for a short drive - top down.
    On arriving home left the engine running whilst I opened the bonnet to check for leaks.
    I could smell petrol and saw it was pouring out of the overflow pipe at the front of the engine.
    Immediately shut-off engine. Fuel stopped.
    Turned on ignition, fuel poured out again.

    I assume that at least one of the needle valves in the carb is sticking ??
    Before I dismantle the carbs any other suggestions ??
    At least it proves my fuel pump works well.

    Use the inertia switch to cut off the fuel supply and run it until it stalls. Then reset it with the ignition on , This may flush through any small debris that are stopping the needle valves from closing fully. failing that you need to take the carbs off.

      Didn't think of that one. Good idea.
      PO had repaired the tank just before I bought her last October.
      Could have been some goo in the tank from the repair.

        How true ,nice tight brand new hood fitted ,oh so nice BUT windscreen now leaks !!!!!!!!

          It's all part of the joy of Stag ownership.
          I'm booked in for a new hood. Hope I don't get the same.

              What an excellent piece of advise. Would never have occurred to me. I will certainly remember it.
