Hi I am a newbie to the forum and was wondering if anybody could help me with my heated rear window on my Mk.2 stag. When putting on my hard top before Christmas I was noticed that the connector on the nearside post was missing (just a hole!) the drivers side was ok and is in contact with the hard top post. I have put a camera down the hole with a light on the end hoping to find a wire or something, but cannot see anything down there. Can anybody help with a wiring diagram of the heated rear window or tell me what should be on the nearside post and whether it is just earth connection !!! Any help to try and get it working would be appreciated as it's the only thing that doesn't work. Thanks. Les

Hi Les, and welcome.
The connections on both sides are the same, only one is live and the other earth. Have a look at part number 155902 on any of the suppliers websites. For example: http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-155902
The plastic gets brittle and usually ends up with the connection bit dropping down inside the B-post. Removing the B-post trim will provide access, but you could try fishing around with a length of wire to see if you can drag it back up again.Last edited by DJT; 26 February 2015, 16:26.Dave

Hi Les
I know it's a bit of a pain but you will find the wire and connector has fallen lower down the B Post, best to remove B post cover and all will be revelled
buy yourself a new connector first, plus check the other side is not cracked, and misshaped you might have to purchase two, they get damaged when the
Hardtop is removed or replaced and over time the plastic bowls give way.
Hope this was of some help

I agree with pretty much all that has been said and would just add two points.
As Dave says, one side is positive feed, the other is an earth. It is the right hand side that is the feed and the passenger side is an earth so if you find it difficult to retrieve the wire on the N/S you may be able to connect up a separate earth wire.
However, before you do any of this I'd recommend checking your Heated Rear Screen first. On almost every screen I've seen there is no continuity between the left and right hand 'bars' and so, even if you can get 12v to it, it may well not work, I'm sorry to say.
Welcome to the forum and good luck.
Cheers

Funny you should mention that - I've just bought some to see if I can repair my screen. However I haven't had the chance to try it yet.Originally posted by TR5convalescent View PostHopefully someone else will confirm if still available but in the 1980s you could get a very small bottle of electro conductive paint to repair gaps in the heater element.
So, it is available, but whether it will work or not is another matter !

I tried it many years ago, I used it on one of my cars. SD1 Rover I think. never had any success with it but it might be a better product now.
