I have started to make some progress by replacing some of the perished rubber items. The steering rack gator was very easy as the track rod end had been reassembled with copper grease in the past. However the power steering pipes were very awkward. I do not have a ramp at present and getting the pipes to miss the steering rack and exhaust manifold whilst lining up the threads was very difficult and took considerably longer than anticipated. I have now managed to raise the car slightly and started looking at the corrosion. The car is generally very good, but there are several areas of light surface rust underneath and in the boot floor. As I intend to use the car for a few years before deciding when/if to do the nuts and bolts restoration, i was after some advice. What is the best DIY way to preserve the car. Is it to wire brush the corrosion, treat with some anti rust treatment, and then body schutz or should I be putting some primer and then top coat before the wax oil/schutz? Any thoughts gratefully received. I am not looking for concours, I am looking to preserve what I have. (I do have access to a compressor)
