water coming out of exhaust on start up also running rough

hello can any body help with this . car was running alright last 100 miles started up today seems to be missing on one pot have noticed water in end of exhaust pipe

Water splashing out of the exhuast on start up is pretty normal. The stag exhaust seems to get a lot ofc condensate in it and when cold will often splash out sooty water and steam until the exhaust is good and hot. You need to rule out all other causes of misfire before even worrying about water/steam on start up.

Firstly try and isolate the misfiring cylinder, pull a plug lead off and replace it in turn (with the engine running) and if its a simple single pot not firiing one lead will make no noticeanle difference in engine speed/smoothness. if none make a difference then it's not a plug or a lead and you can look at other ignition issues or carb problems as a next step.

thanks Ian have had all plugs out 7 were dry and abit sooty one was clean and seemed to be wet when i took leads off one at a time there was a difference in engine tone but not a great deal on some of the leads

On the cylinder that had the clean plug, after leaving the car over night remove the plug a pull the HT lead off the coil and turn the engine over on the starter. If it throws any coolant/ moisture out the plug hole then it's one of two things. Inlet manifold gasket or head gasket. hopefully it will turn out to be an inlet manifold gasket.
