I am very pleased to hear that you all have had no issues with the SS manifolds. Apologies if my words put anyone off but I can only speak from my experience of about 7 years ago. Looks like things have improved

I think you are right. Looks like they have learned as they have gone along. Someone told me the original phoenix manifolds didn't have the flat spot for the steering shaft. They must have improved the design at some point for ease of fitment.

I forgot to add however, that I would still have them ceramic coated. The difference this made to my TR was incredible. Before I did this, after 4 Star became unobtainable, the car always ran quite hot (3/5ths) on the temp gauge and I had to use the electric fan very frequently and always in traffic. Afterwards, dead centre on the gauge and I don't think I ever used the electric fan again.

Feedback to suppliers or manufacturers often pays off. After I fitted mine I called in at the factory and they were very interested to see a set fitted to a car. It proves to them that their production standards haven't slipped.

I am on a dealer training course at the moment and they are stressing the importance of submitting reports and details of common/reoccurring faults to the manufacturer. And they do listen and bring out mods and make changes to production. The trouble is that we can't do this without the end user reporting faults to us!

Its definitely worth "complaining" when there is a problem, because in the long run you are helping them out.
