Well known problem, down to combination of poor design and maintenance. Leaves block the plenum chamber drain, which then overflows into the car. Can also be caused by a badly fitted pollen filter.
Not necessarily bye bye, sometime you can dry the module out. Or a replacement can be bought from a scrappers, it will need recoding but not difficult if you have the right kit, or know someone who does.
Suggest you contact your servicing garage.
