    rust removal tools

    Evening All

Work is continuing on removing rust etc from the underside of my car. The angle grinder was in action this afternoon, fitted with a knotted wire brush (from Screwfix). It was super at removing the rust wherever the 115mm disc could fit in.

However, does anybody have any good suggestions for what to use to get the rust out of all the awkward corners? Are there any small wire brushes on the market?

I tried a small wire brushon the drill but it doesn't have the power of the grinder.

    Any suggestions?

    Regards

    Bruce

      Bruce,

Were you using a knotted wheel or a knotted cup? I find a cup like this gets into most places. (Also available from Scewfix, B&Q, etc):

I've used this stuff Bruce - pretty good, and like Surface Processings results but DIY - the gel is particularly good for those difficult little spots.

Plus some small grinding stones on a Dremel can be very effective

Dave - I have been using both the wheel and cup type. The wheel type is ferociouswhich is slightly scary seeing as I had to remove the guarding off the grinder to get it to fit:shock:

Russ - Good suggestion about the Dremel. I see Screwfix stock them so will make a purchase.

Work progressed reasonably well this afternoon with the drivers side floorpans sorted out. Here are a few photos.

          Regards
