    Rear Hub bearing tools

HI Members. I have decided to renew the rear bearing on my MK1 STAG I post a thread some months ago asking had any member carried out this
work,One member did reply saying he had carried out this work and added I could hire the tools from the club.If so what is the procedure and the costs.

Jim. Some misinformation there. To the best of my knowledge the Club does not possess any tools, for hire or otherwise. However, there is sure to be someone on this Forum who would help. It can take up to 50 tons pressure to release the taper in the hub if it is really tight. That is hydraulic ram territory!

Collection of Rear hub tools here, I've been advised the rear hub releases a lot easier if a bell shaped puller is used rather than a large press on steroids. No experience myself with the Stag, yet to do the job.
If anybody wants to have a go at a collection of Churchill tools (Standard Triumph specified these Churchill as works tools) there are these on the internet.

See my post in the technical section and contact me via pm if you wish, suggesting having to use a 50 Ton press to separate them, IMO, is very misleading.

Ian. I didn't mean a large press is essential. I realise it is most likely that the type of tool Micky has identified on ebay will do the job- but not always. As I suspected, help is at hand.

            Mike,

The method that works best is that devised by Stag Muffin. i.e. using a steel spacer ring bolted to the flange to stiffen it (using bolts, not the wheel studs) this stops it flexing under pressure. which is what the original Churchill tool does. If it still doesn't release shocking it whilst still loaded does the job
