After thinking I could sort out annoying problems with idle of my strombergs I contacted Alan from the gauge shop. I purchased this set of recon carbs over two years ago so technically didn't expect much of a guarantee plus I have had several people including myself taking the set apart trying to find the problem.
straight away Alan offered to send me another set out. After changing over my viton tipped valves and powder coated tops I installed the carbs. Turned the key and without choke stone cold it started first time and ticked over lovely. I have since tuned and balanced and took it for a run and I'm really pleased.
So I'm really glad I contacted Alan and it's nice to give positive feedback where it's due for sorting out a problem when one comes up.

Yes, I agree.

I bought a pair of Strombergs from Alan in July 2013 but have not got round to fitting them as I managed to get the original carbs to behave themselves.

As a result, I never returned the original units and therefore, never collected the deposit.

I contacted Alan a few weeks ago and asked if I could take advantage of having him fit the new units and having him take the original units as payment.

Absolutely no problem whatsoever.

Now I need to get off my fat bottom and get down there to make it happen - something that your experience of easy starting is prompting me to do so sooner rather than later.

A great service from a really nice guy.

Hi all,

I got a pair of refurbs from Alan a couple of years ago and also called in to see him while in his neck of the woods. A really good guy, I had a tour of his workshop and a cup of coffee and a good chat about cars etc. The carbs work well but I have not been down to him for a tune up, sounds like that may be a trip for this year or next just to feel the difference.

It's a Fiat 130 coupe 3200 V6. ...it has a reported dead rev counter - now this could be wiring but equally be a dead unit - can you sort Veglia 6 cylinder gauges?
