Chrome strips on sills

I know the chrome strips on the sills are meant to be fixed with black plastic trim clips , but this means drilling into my lovely new sills and might ( will ) make them rust. What are the alternatives 3 m tape of some sort as used on modern cars or a Grip like nails type fixing . Any ideas , what have others done .

Modern window sealer / adhesive will hold them on but you won't get them back off without having to damage them or the paintwork.

I'm after some polished cill covers, so do they come with templates,? How the hell will I know where to drill?

Pure quesswork, use SS rivets or screws.
