    Guys, still no rubbing for those who asked.
    There seems to be a lot of posts about size though, (I'll serve them up, you hit them) yes the tyres I have bought are slightly smaller in diameter than the original tyres however everyone here is forgetting that new tyre come with 8mm of tread and worn tyres are legal up until 1.6mm therefore the tyre size during its lift reduces by approx 13mm anyway. My tyres are unlikely to get too worn therefore most proberly larger in diameter than most original worn tyres.

      Apparently so. This equates to a 16mm (2.45%) diameter reduction over the 185/80 tyres. Can't have been good for the autos.......

          OK - I've done a bit of research on this. My Stag was fitted with 185/80/14s. The 80 refers to 80% of the width, therefore 80% of 185. The overall diameter would therefore be (185 * .80) * 2 + 355.6 (355.6 mm being 14"). This is 80% of the width times 2 plus the diameter of the wheel , making and overall diameter of 651.6 mm. My new wheels with tyres will be (195 * .65) * 2 + 381 making an overall diameter of 634.5 mm. So the circumference will be smaller meaning fewer MPH. According to the tyre calculator I used, my speed will be 2.6% lower meaning when the speedo shows I am doing 30, I will in fact be doing 29.2

          So the middle number is important because as you increase or decrease the width of the tyre you will automatically be resizing the height of the sidewall even if the middle number stays the same.

                They look really good... are they genuine Minilites?

                What size and offset are they (he says feverishly looking for wallet!)

                  I bought mine from eBay and they were advertised as wheels for the Stag. They are not genuine Minilites. I think the company is MG Hive. You can get them in silver, black or anthracite. I chose the last. They get sent with Triumph decals to put in the centre. Shame they are not Stag decals.
