soft top flap rubber with pic, presume ive done it wrong
well in my mind this looked correct lol, but cant get the hood storage flap to close, adjusted the locks upwards but still not right, which way does it fit?
I was discussing this with Sam (staginhiding) only the other day.
On mine the seal stops just at the back of the chrome horseshoe and, I believe, that's the way it should be. Maybe it doesn't look too neat, as it leaves a small gap between the horseshoe and the wing, but I've found it works.
I got fed up with my rubber strip forcing the stainless trim off the tonneau & generally bu**erring things up - solution - just took it off, easy peesy. Cleaned up the glue & the channel keeps clean & dry but as I very rarely get it wet it doesn't matter as there's no real gap to fill (on mine anyway). Also - no hidden damp, my last stag got very rusty under that lot.
Anyone ever thought about how the horse shoes are fitted. 2 X 1/4" bits of studding in very soft metal and 7/16" nuts. then that's used to pull down the hard top on to the body with a long lever and cam when its fitted

If the rubber is stopping the cover going down level with the body then maybe its either the wrong type, or fitted the wrong way round.
If it does go down far enough, but doesnt latch, then, either the catchess need adjustment or the cables are getting pulled by the hood (thats a common problem).
Its not easy to see from the picture, but it looks like the wrong rubber seal to me, which may be what is stopping the tonneau lid closing enough to allow the catch to work. The correct seal has a square cross-section where it fits in the gutter, and a flap on the top, which is only attached to the square part one side. It should be fitted with the "Open" side facing inwards.
Mike.
Here are some pictures of how my rubber sits. As you can see the actual seal is a totally different shape to the one you fitted. Hope this helps.
