    Clutch Thrust Bearing

    Anybody know the difference in the superseded thrust bearing, old type listed at a well known supplier as no longer available.

    I have a replacement Borg Beck bearing which is around 3mm thinner than existing one.

    I hadn't heard of this issue. Isn't this going to put the bearing further from the clutch cover plate? Doesn't sound like a good thing!

      Yes thats what I thought, I find you need all the travel you can get for operation of clutch.

      I have about 2 weeks to resolve, may try another thrust bearing.

        Could making your own slave cylinder rod out of threaded bar to make it adjustable be a possible solution?

          You could just put a sitable spacer behind the bearing , and also make an adjustable push rod too.

            There is an adjustable pushrod made for the TR6 I believe made just for this issue. I have also found assorted nuts and spacers inside the slave, the slave packed away from the adaptor plate with washers, and Dolly Sprint slaves used (smaller bore, longer travel but heavier pedal) to get around it.

            Personally use the Paddocks kit as works well, gives nice pedal weight and not yet had any issues with the many that I have fitted.

                Bought another from Rimmers, listed as uprated. Its the same as original in thickness. Borg one is 3mm thinner.
