    Wheel wobble!!

Had the MOT done on the car today (passed) but the examiner picked up a slight wobble in the rear wheels from top to bottom. I fitted the drive shafts reconditioned about 18 months 2 years ago. In the ROM it shows a taper bearing so I checked the torque on the main drive shaft nuts left and right side and they are correct. The movment is possibly 1mm may be less. Is this common or what should I be looking for?
    Many thanks
    Tony

Assuming that the hub-to-trailing arm fixings are OK it can really only be the hub bearing.
There are lots of reference in the forum to replacement of these, with the right tools it is do-able, some prefer to buy a recon hub from one of the normal suppliers.

If it's only a slight bit of play you may get away with a nip up of the bearings. What you checked won't have any affect on them. You need to remove them from the car and carry out the adjustment using the 2 large nut's on the other side of the hub. if you want, pm me and I will advise you further.

And to adjust the bleeders, you'll need 2 x 52mm slim spanners!

          Best of luck......

Thanks for the info. Ian I will drop you a PM as it is only a very small amount. The units were rebuilt with parts from LD just before I bought them so should be ok! which makes me think it may be adjustment.
            Thanks agin

              Hi Ian,

Just an update, thanks for your advice on the phone. I have adjusted the bearings as you described, I bought two central heating pump spanners and ground one down! It seems to have reduced the play so I will run the car for a while and see if it needs any more adjustment.

Also thanks to everyone else who came back to me on this to.

That's great news Tony, and a cheap fix which is a bonus

Thanks for the feedback, it makes it worth while.
