    door cards

Hello stagland. Silly question time. Does anyone know where I can get the various fixings ( if any special ones are needed ) for reboarding my door cards? If it's only spray adhesive , rivets and staples then that's no problem but I seem to remember reading somewhere that other fasteners were used but I can't remember where I think I read it. Thanks people

I'm putting mine back on with some laminate floor insulation to deaden the clunk and make it feel more solid.

When this question popped up a while back, this was suggested as an option to use instead of the usual backing board that warps etc.

Not sure which is the correct thickness, or even if it would actually work, but might be worth investigating?

I've just finished doing some, using ready cut plastic board - a bit like that stuff on Ebay.

Ideally, you need bifurcated rivets and contact adhesive - I prefer Thixofix to Evostik, however you can use fairly small pop rivets in place of the bifurcated rivets and also double sided tape (like carpet tape).

You will need a good stapler and differing lengths of staples (long ones are too long for the main retainers around the periphery and short ones are too short when stapling the elastic strap and where you have two or even three thicknesses of trim).

If you take your time, and take pictures on the first time you do it, it's fairly straightforward.

One tip, be very careful when separating the original trim or foam that is glued to the door card. I used a wide thin paint scraper - very slowly !

                  Cheers

                  Julian

That's great . Thanks everyone. I knew there was something out of the ordinary to get but couldn't remember what. I have of a tar impregnated hardboard that is more resilient to moisture that I might investigate. Woolies website here I come

Has anyone tried fiberglass resin on the cardboard to protect it from moisture?
