Opened the boot, got out the crowbar I keep in there, opened the bonnet, and tapped the starter motor (which you can reach
fine through the exhaust manifold with a crowbar), and lo and behold started fine on next turn of the key.
I just tried the crowbar treatment (well a metal tube and a hammer) and it started! Probably a sticking solenoid I suppose. Not a long term solution but I think I will now carry a hammer and tube in the boot until I have replaced the solenoid.
Hate to say I told you so but I told you so . When in doubt give it a cloat .
Michael.
The problem with clouting things one day it stops working and usually that's the day when its p***ing down with rain and your in the middle of nowhere.
No rain in Dorset , and I here the the Canary isles are succumbing to climate change. But if it's anything like Cyprus when it rains it rains . Plus we have the fourth emergency service , do you have something similar.
There you are then Michael, if you are going to start your car with a hammer don't venture outside Dorset I haven't noticed to much of a climate change, we have good winters and sometimes we have better ones, we have good summers and sometimes we have better ones of those as well I did live in Cyprus for a while but I don't remember any serious rainstorms but that was a long long time ago. We have an emergency Vodka delivery service is that the one you mean, Oh we have the AA or the RAC cant remember which never had to use them.
I prefer the southern comfort service myself. Never had to use the rac either due to the fact the old girl has been garage bound for a while. What happened to starting Handles. Wouldn't need a hammer then.
Michael.
