    Front bumper plinth.

Can someone please advise how the front bumper plinth should be fitted. Mine just has self tappers going through into a spring type fixing however I am sure this is not correct. I did look on the Rimmers site however it is unclear to me?

If you mean the plinth that the number plates mounts on it should have long studs, There are then 2 shaped spacers that fit inside the bumper for the nuts to pull up tight to,

The badge plinth is held on by small spring clips on pegs which are part of the casting.

    Ian.

Ian. Are the studs fixed onto the number plate plinth? If so someone has removed them and drilled holes to put the self tappers through.

Yes they are 1/4" unf I think and tacked or welded in position. They have a flat mushroom type head on them to allow the number plate to sit flat IIRC

Thanks Ian, I will search the various sites and see if I can buy some. Failing this I will have to get some studs and tack them back on and grind it off flush. This also explains why the plinth rubber kept coming out as it obviously wasn't tight enough.

Looking at that photo Malc I can't see any other holes for the number plate to be fixed? So how does that number plate fix to the plinth? Is it stuck on with double sided tape?

That's a new unused plinth. You drill the holes to fit the holes in the plate, or make some nice new ones in both. Not sure about sticky tape tho....

                    Thanks Malc.

I think that I am either going to obtain another one or try to tack weld some studs in. The later option is obviously going to be cheaper, Ian indicated that the studs are 1/4" does anyone know the length?
