    Highs and lows of Stag ownership - Alternator?

    The red ignition light on my stag has been troubling me over the last few months as it has been staying on and now the car won't keep a charge, the voltage meter is just over 10 - do you think that the alternator is broken? Are there any checks for this? Any tips for the best place for mk1 alternator, if that's what I need?

    If it is a proper Mk1 alternator (11AC) then the fault may lie with the (external) regulator box, wiring/connectors or the alternator. There is a test to check the alternator if thats what you have.

        Hi Giles I had the same problem as you decided to up grade to Mk 2 spec you can then do away with the regulater which sits on the inner wing,Its a quite easy to do.

                Giles I bought my alternator from JP I also reposition it to the n/s front with a reposition bracket which I made ,
