Another admirer of a great car

I took George ( UKE 714R) out for a run on Sunday around the lanes of north Essex and drove through the picturesque village of Finchingfield. Which has appeared on many a village calender well known for its quaint cottages overlooking the red brick narrow hump back bridge over the small river with a pub favoured by the born again Sunday bikers always busy in the summer . Well to the point I drove slowly through the village avoiding the ducks and geese in the road . After about ten minuted I returned through the village just passing the pub when a guy ran out into the road and flagged me down . Expecting him to tell me about a problem with my car . He was full of praises for the Stag and almost licked the car he was so passionate about the Stag he owned one 35 years ago. His wife said he went frantic when he heard me coming back. Soon a small group of Bikers were admiring the TV8 of course the usual misinformed statement. I soon put them right It really made my day .I did offer to take him for a spin but he declined as he had to take his son to work. I am still smiling .Has anyone else had anything similar?

Yes Derek. A great big scary lump of a man got out of his new Merc in Colchester the other day, leant over me through the open soft top, and before I could put it in gear and run for my life, he said what a lovely car, a 'privilege to see'!
    I'm glad he was happy....
    Cheers, Mark

Similar experience to yourself Derek. I was driving slowly through Kersey (picturesque village near to Ipswich) and looking for a lunch time pub; parked up and out came a local who heard 'a V8' passing through the village and came to find the source. He was a classic Rolls Royce owner and was impressed by the standard equipment level of a Stag.

Great pub in that village if anyone is in the area - it is called The Bell Inn.

An experience in B&Q car park on Monday - on the way there, at a set of lights on the A23 in Purley an older guy said "fabulous car" as he crossed...

Got to B&Q at Purely Way and a black guy in his late 50s came running up all excited, asking if he could take some photos, as in the 70s all his mates had Stags, but they all had reliability issues so he was too afraid to get one himself. By this time I was out of the car and walking towards the shop slowly, when he said its a shame he didn't hear me arrive (I pottered in) as he remembered they sounded great, so I went back and started/revved it a few times.

He looked in raptures, and told me I'd definitely made his day! My wife just looked on amazed..she loves our Stag but still doesn't see fully what makes a bloke turn back into a kid at the sight and sound of a car..

The couple I bought my Stag from were selling it as His Wife refused to go out in it any more because of the amount of interest people showed in it

I came back to mine after leaving it for the day in a public car park in Bristol - someone had written 'Fabulous car" on a piece of paper and left it under the wiper blade.

I've seen that look too - from Mrs. StagManiac.

Someone left a note on my windscreen a couple of weeks ago and they were thoughtful enough to put it in a little plastic bag with black and yellow stripes on.

This is not just a Stag, this is a Mimosa Stag - well it will be soon.

At least the yellow works with the car...

I always remember how good it looked when I got one of those on my mimosa Sprint - the yellow of the paint and the black vinyl roof set the ticket off perfectly....

I was filling up with petrol and the guy next to me just smiled and said that's a fantastic car mate. I later drove past a group of you lads and over heard one of them say " that car is f.......,,. sick man " which in the words of the youth generation is about the biggest complement you can get bless them. I did blip the throttle a tad ( like we all do )

Going through Orton (a little Cumbrian village on the edge of the known world) - it was market day & a bit busy making the road through single lane. Bloke coming t'other way in an old Skoda looking mad as I was coming on & no chance of pulling in - was mouthing STAG and he backed up to make way with a big grin and thumbs up. Cool !
Bit further on had a chat with a biker on a Honda 4 & a heavy discourse on camshaft drives - chains belts and shaft drive (which I'd never heard of)
                          Suns out at last !

Had to stop on the M42 a couple of weeks ago whilst the blokes from the Highways Agency patrol car swept up some debris on the carriageway, one came over to say "Fantastic Car".
