    Forum Web Site Hackers

    [align=left]To Carl Fuss,

    For some months now we have had various organisations "Hacking" into our Forum and setting up themselves as New Members and advertising their products in their profile. We have had numerous Viagra adverts, Adobe software advertised, and just tonight another one calling themselves "Movieducks"

    Is there not away of stopping them logging in as Members in the 1st place rather than have to wait for yourself to spot & delete them.

    Personally I have never been involved in Web Site Development & Security, but some of our genuine existing Members have according to their profiles & postings on the subject.

    Perhaps they can come up with some ideas as to how better protect our site from these unwanted intrusions if you need some assistance in addressing this problem if the Web Site designers themselves cannot?

    I may well be missing something here, but how do they manifest themselves? I've seen a couple of odd new members, but I've never seen anything else.

      There has been more than a handful of these hackers/spammers recently, fortunatley no harm seems to have been done, but I would not like to see things get out of hand.

      I suppose this re-awakens the question, should non- SOC members be allowed access to the forum? Or at least should the forum be made more secure?

      I have no objection to non-members contributing to theStag discussion or general banter, but I don't want to see things disappear in a sea of spam etc.

        I think the only option is to carry on for the time being. These rogue members are going to appear from time to time. They are not appearing uncontrollably fast. Carl is doing a good job, regularly removing them. Hopefully it won't get too out of hand!

                The photos show his top down, but I suspect he stopped round the corner and put it down at the last minute.

                        I know what you mean. We have the roof off over our kitchen at the moment having an upstairs bathroom put in - I have been watching for tell-tale damp patches to start appearing in the kitchen ceiling:shock:

                        Tomorrow is supposed to be better

                            Steve, i think the hard top is going on this week (so my wig can stay in place), I just need a dry day to get the car out, don't want to be putting a wet soft top away for a few months.

                            Inone way i hate putting the top on because it signals the end of warm weather, but on the other hand itfeels like getting a new car, from soft top summer posing to GT winter cruising all in one car.

                              Hi Terry

                              Unfortunatly the only way is to manually check and then remove them.

                              Let me know if I've missed any
