Fit Dash or Windscreen First?

Putting the car back together after major body renovation (rust) & respray. Thinking of fitting the dash before the windscreen. What would you recommend? Craig

I've done it both ways and I don't think it made much difference either way.

Sorry to disagree Julian. I would say windscreen first as the bottom rubber sits slightly down from the screen vent and a rope rubbing against this in installation may cause damage. It makes no difference fitting it first either.

Morning Edd, that's a fair point you make However, thousands of screens have been replaced on cars with the dashes fitted and I don't recollect hearing of damage. In fact, I seem to recollect seeing a screen fitted without damage up in Bristol a few months ago

Nevertheless, given the choice of screen or dash first, I can see that Edd's point makes sense and so maybe screen first could be best.

Thanks for the quick replies. My initial concern was having sufficient access to fit the vent screws up against the screen. Seem to recall these are not that easy to get at? Craig

You fit the vent strip to the dash then fit the dash.

theres a vinyl trim that goes around the screen,do that first

Make sure that the vinyl, or original, plastic trim folds around the windscreen frame before you put the rubber in.

Windscreen first, just done this the other way around and thought I should've fitted the screen first.
