New Stag - electrical fault - Help!

Hi All,
I am new to the club, new to this forum and a first time Stag owner (after a lifetime of wanting one)!
I am loving my "73 Stag but have developed an electrical fault. When I start the engine everything runs fine, everything works. Within 1-3 minutes, I loose the rev counter and as I do, the the fuel and temp gauges fall to zero and the indicators fail. Sometimes the rev counter comes back and the gauges etc work, but then it fails again in seconds and so do the gauges, etc.

Looking at wiring diagrams, it looks to me like something to do with the earth or wiring around or the actual voltage stabiliser, but I am purely guessing. Anyone had this before and can point me in the right direction?

Congrats on achieving a dream!

This fault seems to cover several different circuits so I dont think earthing is the best place to look. The common factor seems the fusing. Those circuits are fed by the 'Ignition Control' fuse. I would remove the fuse, then clean the fuse holder prongs by wrapping some fine abrasive paper round a fuse, then rolling it in the fuse holder. Fit a new clean fuse and see what happens. If it still plays up the rivet in the fuse box may be the culprit as they can come loose.

Voltage regulator connections maybe loose. The green wire from the voltage reg goes to the rev counter. The light green wire goes to fuel and temp gauges. The green wire which goes into the connector on the rev counter also then exits and goes to the hazard warning light switch which may be the reason for the indicator problem too.

I agree with Chris. Mine had the same circuits off when I drove for the MOT on Friday. I waggled the white wires on the back of the fuse panel and all circuits popped back into life. I'll be cleaning the contacts properly this weekend.
