The plate with T6938LD is the Body number. This is from a Mk1 built around Q3 1971. It should be mounted near the LH bonnet hinge and unpainted as it would have been attached after the paint shop. The other could be from the same car has no real significance and should be mounted beside the Body number. It should be painted the same as the body as it would have been attached to the bare shell.Dave

That is what I said above: the T number is unpainted. They both end in LD.

My new Stag does not have either tag fitted but I do have the Heritage certificate so have the data.
The Tags are Aluminium I believe - can anyone give me the length & width of the tags so I can make some plus size of stamps i.e. the L / T/ D 1,2,3 etc for punching the data onto the tag plates.
Thanks Neil

Sizing looks different in this photo compared to the 1st picture on this thread ( or is it my eyes)
Yes I have tried to guess the size of the letters but a set of the correct font stamps ( not cheap Chinese which have lower case letters ) are £60 - I have a engraver who can make the Tags like the stamp but need exact size since certainly cheaper as we only need 3 letters out of the 26 to make the Tag.
Want to get it right 1st time so 8 or 10 mm - swinging to 8 mm - what do you think ?
So I am looking for someone to pop into their garage & give me a size if possible.Last edited by Neil W; 24 June 2015, 19:53.
