Got back from a nice walk with the dog's this morning and for some reason picked up my copy of the restorers guide and had yet another good read whilst having a cup of tea. I have read it before but must have missed these two things but thought it worth posting about.
In the cylinder head section he talks about heads that were out of tolerance after production being reworked instead of being scrapped. With cam bucket bores they were machined over size and fitted with over sized buckets. Apparently if this was the case the head was stamped "OS" adjacent the bore.
Maybe this could explain why some heads have the random noisy tappet issue sometimes.
The other thing I read was about transmission vibration issues on the auto's, a subject that comes up often on here. The fix was a change of sump pan on the BW35's I assume this was from the Tin pan type to the cast Ali one
Hope it may be useful info to someone.
