Advice needed - first time Stag buyer.

Hello - new poster here.

I really want to own a Stag. Looked at one today. On first site it looked pretty good, but closer inspection highlighted a number of issues.

Not sure if I am being overly pedantic for a 40 year old car, but would be interested to hear your thoughts. Please see attached photos.

The car is up for sale for nearly 11k. Most worried about the state of the rusty outriggers. Should I stay away?

There are plenty of nice cars in that price range. Go and have a look at a few more.

that welding looks ugly and busting at the seam.. the boot looks ugly too. A pillar looks OK just looks like the paint has been touched up. on an 11k car I would expect the underside to be excellent.

Definitely not an £11k car. If the underside is like that, what are the wings and sills like? Especially the rear wing/sill join? From what you have shown us I would certainly recommend taking someone along who doesn't have Stag envy and can appraise the car honestly.

Like all the others have said, not an £11K car. Take someone with you who knows Stags to look at the next one.

is this the car? if so then it looks OK but you never know what the "refurbishment" is hiding, pay close attention to all 4 arches, they should be nice and true with no signs of filler work to hide rot, run your fingers along the inside of the lip.

if that's all that's wrong with the car make a low offer and see what happens.. but please take someone with you to check out the engine etc..

As said not worth 11k , the welding is very poor and looks to have been hurriedly plated over the old ,in this area that wont last long as it is major structural .the paint is a poor job and not adhering to the underlying so unless it is halved in price walk away . take a knowledgeable stag member owner with you lots of people will be willing to help i am not to far away if you get any in the Bedfordshire area i could help with you viewing .

i honestly cant believe that asking price, another garage chancing there luck, that welding is bloody awfull, its not a clapped out 20 yr old ford ka desperate for its last mot its a appreciating classic car, jesus im truly shocked buy that

mine bare shell was all cut out pieces crafted and molded to fit factory look then ground completely flush fit ready for nice even coat of underseal .

my car is much much better than that one and i can quite happily say shes rust free. id be made up if i got 7 for mine lol (not for sale by the way )
