Thanks for clearing that up Dave.

When will your first blue be on the road? - is that the priority over the white one?

I'm going to replace my carpets soon and got samples from Coverdale. I thought the edged ones looked quite good . Is it just a case of originality? And as my interior vinyl wise is quite good I asked if they could send me a couple of off cuts to fit to the new board for the doors. At the moment am lying in a the Harbour hospital in Poole recovering from spinal surgery so it won't be to soon I'm afraid. I'm also afraid that s w m b o will go in the garage while I'm here and find my stash of stag parts , and new tools and I will end up back here .

if your buying carpet, its a good idea to pay the extra and go for mk1 carpet its wool,it will still fit a mk2

              dave
The samples came back today Dave and I prefer the wool, it's a much finer texture. My problem is that costs are fast exceeding what I expected so I've got to put the brakes on at some point. If the car was finished I wouldn't mind so much but there's still a lot to get and as the interior will be good (when the seats have new foams) but not superb it doesn't really warrant spending an extra hundred on carpets. The car is a 1972 model btw, (with federal headrests fitted from new so I understand) so it should have wool carpets but the new paint is a 1973 colour and we're fitting a MKII interior and wheels.

No it's nothing to do with originality Michael, I just think that unbound edges will be more forgiving because the bound carpets are more likely show any imperfections if they don't fit perfectly. Then again I might be wrong - I usually am.
Hope you make a full recovery and, more importantly, hope swmbo doesn't find your stash!

Dear new to this and Clive thanks for your best wishes ( off topic ) .
I always get new tools out when she helps me do a job.
Then when she says I've not seen that before I just tell her I've had it ages and lucky we had or we couldn't have done the job and she says nothing but sometimes I don't get away with it.

Been there, done that - and got the bruises to prove it.
