Well... I cannot believe some people. I found a Stag MK1 Fan on Flea Bay in not too bad condition which I needed. So I placed a Bid and hoped to win it. Now I received an email to say my Bid had been Cancelled. Ive never been treated so poorly ! Not Impressed.

Looks like he got an "off eBay" offer which he has accepted, therefore he sold it so your bid was cancelled. They are entitled to do this as you had not actually won the auction they simply withdrew it from sale. To be honest I can understand this if it saved him around 15% eBay and Paypal fees. As Piscean57 said I think it's a bit harsh to call them "scum".

In my experience if it is an item you really want then contact the seller with your best offer and see what they say, eBay has the option to end the auction and sell to the highest bidder.

edit- yeah I see what he did, he should have offered it to you 1st really, the guy has no morals retracting your bid and selling to someone else!

Why negative feedback??? he did nothing technically wrong. Besides AFAIK you can't leave negative feedback unless you win the auction, I may be wrong but I think Nick only bid on it, he did not actually win it.

Don't see what the problem is? The seller obviously sold it elsewhere and withdrew the item.

Have been to view two cars "advertised" on e bay and suggested my highest bid and on both occasions the seller accepted and took item out of the auction

Have also sold stuff outside auction BUT not when there were bids above reserve price.

Fairly common practice in auction houses too.

See a lot of scum out there

I reason I have have purchased virtually every useful eBay part on e bay is the fact i have bid high. I also tell the seller I'm going to bid on the part. Some people are selling left over parts from projects after spending thousands so they want to recover costs.
What really annoyed me was new old stock rear light rubbers I won.
I had a quick look and put them in my parts box several months later looked again and the seller had cleaned up a good set ( certainly not new ) and put them in an original wrapper.
So he must have purchased the nos set and just swapped for his.
Then we have petrol tanks with body filler in and a new old stock perfect tread plate I paid £90 for one. I had a refund of £20 because of a dent which I polished out but it took ages.
As said all part of the fun.

Yes, I suppose thinking about it, it is against the spirit. Perhaps should put a buy it now price if you will allow a buy it now, or a reserve if you wont let it go cheap.
Mind you, I guess you don't know why they ended it.

If it appears back on line, then you will know whether his greed paid off or not. Having said that, its just a fan - plenty of others will sell you one similar. When it happens with something bigger then you'll be really 'peed' off.
