Paint work and Alloy wheel polishing

    Morning all.
Just thought I would let you know about this if anyone is interested. I thought I would have a go at polishing my alloy wheels. I have tried the usual methods and cleaners but never been happy with the finish I achieved. The other day I purchased a Mothers mini power ball and a bottle of their metal polish. After a couple of hours work here are the results.

Now to paint work. I have been trying out various car waxes over the last few month and I have now found the perfect one for me. It's Bilt Hamber Hydra Wax. It's not cheap at around £25 a bottle but is very easy to apply and buff off. Again here are the results.

Very nice. How did you polish around the wheel valve?

I use Scotchbrite buffing wheels to start if they need it, then finish off with a rag mop and metal polish.

                Hi

All looks great. Do you have a photo of the wheels before you started work? Is there any laquer remaining on them?

                Regards

                Bruce

They weren't to bad. I just couldn't get the finish I wanted using autosol wet & dry etc.

Hi Bruce. The wheels had no lacquer on them thankfully as that would have been a lot more involved with striping etc. Sorry but I didn't take a before picture.

                            Rob,

Did you prep the paintwork before applying the wax?

                            Jeff.

                              Hi Jeff.
I have used a clay bar and also polished the paint with my sons polishing machine before waxing the car. This was all done at the beginning of the year. I do enjoy keeping the car looking good so don't find it a chore. I have tried a few different waxes but this Hydra wax is the best I have come across. I have to say I am very impressed with Bilt Hamber products.
                              Cheers Rob.
