    Dent Magician

Whilst struggling to remove the cylinder heads on my Stag last year I had the misfortune (read: I was bloody stupid ) to put a couple of small dents in the O/S/F wing on my Stag. Not immediately noticeable to a casual looker, but I knew they were there. The other day when talking to a couple of classic-owning neighbours (one owns an XJ120 DHC and the other a Mk2 Jag) I discovered that another neighbour owns a paintless dent removal franchise - DentCure. He popped in today after work and had a go. I had removed the front sidelight repeater for him to get to the dent on the top of the wing. The other dent was between the wheel arch and the door, about 2" above the coach line. This is the one he struggled with, but he got there by using a combination of hitting the rim of the dent with a hammer and a pencil-shaped piece of plastic, and pushing from behind through the gap above the top door hinge. He had to 'modify' one of his tools in my vice to reach this dent, but he was not going to be defeated. 45 minutes later there was no sign remaining of either dent.

Some beer tokens changed hands and I can now look at the front wing of my Stag without being reminded of my carelessness. Happy days.

If anyone in the area needs this service, I can thoroughly recommend Dean at Dentcure, Exeter.

I love this skill. You tube has some incredible clips of work in progress. The trouble is most companies won't touch thicker classic car metal. I tried and failed with a few Bristol companies when my car was damaged. Modern paint and wings are so flexible. He did really well when you think of acces and the thickness of a stag wing. I liked the glue pulling they use where the glue has a tack point that doesn't pull off the paint but pulls the dent out.

Another is heat and liquid Nitrogen (or dry ice as it's normally called) Again on you tube.

Did think of trying with a CO2 extinguisher as that produces very cold temp.

Is there any signs of paint damage Dave?

      Jeff.

Jeff ive tried a another company called Dentwizard not on The Stag but on a new car the dent was bad, somebody's car door blew open and went straight across my whole door from centre to bottom.
I didn't think they would have a chance of making any sort of job of it, but it took best part of the day and dent was removed perfect with no damage to paint.
