    Clock sizes ?????

    Hi
I did a search but no luck
does anyone know the difference between the diameter of the MK 1 clock and the MK 2 clock aperture?

    cheers Alex

Apparently, what you do with your clock is the most important thing. Diameter does not matter.

    Cheers

      Hi Keith

I have just obtained a working smiths clock to replace my non working mk 1 clock, which has a smaller hole than the mark two,and it's hard to enlarge a hole with no centre

I thought it was 52mm on both Alex, the Smiths clock matches the other Mk1 instruments if it's come out of a stag.

I wouldn't dare attempt to make a spelling correction!
This is not just a Stag, this is a Mimosa Stag - well it will be soon.

Haso so the clock face only is smaller on the MK 1 not the hole .? Funny how we jump to conclusions???

Not sure if this may contribute to the conundrum or even its solution .....

I have a Mk2 and have purchased one of those new replacement clocks from a major supplier. It was for a Mk2 Stag and even had the black bezel ring. The original hole in the dash was about 1,5 mm too small. I opened it by carving of the paint and lacquer inside the hole with a craft knife. Then I found some round alloy bar in my tool box and wrapped wet-or-dry around it. Took an hour or so, but I was thus able to open up the hole enough.

So it does seem that there could be two different hole sizes and the replacement clock was designed for the larger hole. Probably the difference between 52mm and 2" which I've both seen quoted as "standard" diameters for dash instruments.

              The answer isn't 42, it's 1/137
