Removing the dash.

Hi,
I have had a good search on the forum on a simple (read this as verging on clueless!) guide to removing the dash for applying veneer. Is this a fairly easy job to do? I feel confident in applying the veneer itself but was hoping for a step by step guide on removing the dash and also re-fitting, which I assume would be the reverse? I was hoping to do this in the wet, winter months.
Any advice is gratefully received.

Matt, are you just removing the wood?

if so, simples.

main fascia where the dials are, just 4 screws hold this piece in place. Label up all the wires so you don't get them mixed up because you have to remove the dials and air vent too to do the veneer.

Middle vent, turn the vent and you will see 2 small screw inside at the top, remove the screws and pull the vent out.

glove box lid is obvious, just undo the hinges and stay.

passenger vent is held on by 2 brackets from behind, access either from underneath or remove the glove box itself, very easy to do.

centre console is a little more fiddly. The flat piece (coin tray) use a spatular or something flat and push the plastic strip firmly forward, it will pop out. Remove the window switches ect, gear knob, the gear piece is held down with 2 screws remove these and pull up and out.

you can now pull the centre console back and disconnect all the wiring, again label every thing, you should then be able to remove the centre console.

It sounds complicated but take your time, you'll be fine.

I labeled all my wires but still got the choke and fan wrong

Thanks Jason.....I was planning on just removing the wood, so your guide is exactly what I was looking for. Even I should be OK with that! should be a nice little project having seen some of the other threads on here and the results they have obtained.
