project been doing, not been on road 20 years not run it yet, just wondering if i should just check the head bolts are as tight as should be? unsual tightening pattern? whats the setting?

Personally if you are "recommissioning" an engine and don't want to go into the engine I would change oil, filter and water and give it a go. It's not unknown for the cylinder head studs and nuts or the bolts to snap when being retorqued and if that happens you will definitely be into engine head work.
If you do want to retorque the heads you want a workshop manual which will tell you the torques and their tightening sequence, however you will need to slacken the nuts and bolts by one flat first...why ? because the threads will have set and the various fastenings will have a "stiction" applying to them that will give a false torque reading. Only by undoing a flat can you ensure the fastenings move correctly and then retorque them back up in one smooth movement.
