Crankshaft pulley - damper - vibrations

I'm just wondering if any of the vibrations people are suffering (me, Andrew to name but 2) can be coming from the crank damper pulley being old and the rubber lining being totally shot?

I don't know of anyone that can re-furbish one, does anyone on here?

I've not asked Gosnay's that did all my engine work but if anyone has any ideas i'd love to know as i'd like to have it reconditioned or maybe a new one made just to see...I know there is an alternative new unit made for MGB's but it ain't cheap.

you could try a s/h one,i know the pulley is getting old but have you seen one brake up yet ?

Vibration dampers can be tested if you have the specialist machines , you could ask your engine builder if they do that

Not yet but I know that after 40 years the rubber will not be as supple so won't be doing its job properly I suspect but i'll take your advice EV and ask my engine guy's who did my crank etc..

JEM engines in Falkirk do it and they will courier it its been a while since I had one done but I phoned today and asked the question.
