Are there many more modern handles that fit a Mk 2 auto gear-lever, if so, where can you find them?

Move the selector to 1st gear position and this should give you enough room to get a drill in there and drill the grub screw out

Thanks - but will now leave until winter as having drilled grubscrew out I assume I will have to have alternative knob to ready to fit or just to refit existing T bar I would have to and fit new grubscrew.Originally posted by milothedog View PostMove the selector to 1st gear position and this should give you enough room to get a drill in there and drill the grub screw out
Would be interested to hear of alternative gearshift knobs etc. meanwhile.

The collar is threaded so can just tighten against the underside of the T handle to stop it twisting. I would think the grub screw is just "belt & braces"
Jut a thought, I have a couple of spare T handles. Your welcome to one FOC if you want to play around putting a a wood inlay in it like the C&F ones.
Mine was very kindly given to me by another forum member.

I didn't realise there was supposed to be a grub screw there, Ian. There isn't in mine. Just a hole in which I put a round rod (or strong Allen key) to hold the collar, whilst unscrewing the T-handle. If there is one in H's collar it might explain why it is so hard to undo.Originally posted by milothedog View PostMove the selector to 1st gear position and this should give you enough room to get a drill in there and drill the grub screw out

Doesn't show on the parts list either Dave, But I nearly wrecked the polished collar until I discovered it when I changed mine over.Originally posted by DJT View PostI didn't realise there was supposed to be a grub screw there, Ian.
